Tara Gentile is a very smart entrepreneur who’s just published a short, affordable book on one of my favorite topics – listening. It’s a critical skill for developing products and services.
Once I got into the product and software game, I started with an audience, rather than the product or service. This gave me a group of real people to listen to and learn from even as they learned from me.
Whether you start with building your own audience or not, you’ll need to learn the art of observation. Tara chats with us today about her own processes for and experiences with listening to win.

Thank you!!!
Thoughts related to how my company can resonate with soccer parents have been lingering in the back of my mind for months – showing glimpses of themselves at odd moments: when I’m swimming, just about to fall asleep, sitting on the sidelines of a game. After listening to this podcast, I was able to sit down and finally put them on paper.
In less than 15 minutes I crafted a draft of my Sales Page for my (soon to be live) Rainmaker site that is a uniquely compelling and effective story about me and why and how SoccerParenting.com fits into the lives of it’s users and future users. I used the idea presented in the podcast of “Change, Comfort and Ease” as a framework for my copy and was able to put myself in the minds of soccer parents and think about their problems, goals, frustrations and desires.
Definitely worth a listen!
I love Tara’s work! I’ve been a big fan of hers since the early days when she was running Scoutie Girl, and it’s been so wonderful to follow along as her business has evolved. She’s touched so many entrepreneurs with her wise words!
